CAI has had the opportunity to support Indigenous-led initiatives that strengthen healing, recovery, harm reduction, and community wellness across British Columbia. Working alongside Indigenous communities, the Province of B.C., and many other partners and organizations, these projects have been guided by Indigenous knowledge, community priorities, and a commitment to culturally grounded approaches.
Join us as we share the collective impact of CAI’s Indigenous-led initiatives, including:
- Capacity Building Grant for First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and Urban Indigenous led Bed-based Treatment and Recovery Operators
- Walking the Healing Path project
- Indigenous-Led Gambling Harm Reduction and Community Capacity Building Grant
- Ga̱’wala mat’sa̱nakwala (Helping, It’s Healing) Grant
Presenters include:
- Sam Young, CAI’s Project Manager for Indigenous Support Recovery
- Arpan Pandher, CAI Project Manager
- Jewell Gillies Webber, the content creator of Walking the Healing Path
This webinar will explore how these initiatives were developed in collaboration with Indigenous communities and partners, highlight lessons learned, and demonstrate how Indigenous-led approaches are strengthening community capacity and creating lasting pathways to healing and wellness.
A key focus of this webinar is the Walking the Healing Path project, which has been guided by the Aftercare Advisory Council (AAC). Comprised of representatives from CAI, the Ministry of Health, the First Nations Health Authority, Indigenous-led community-based organizations, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, community representatives, and peers, the AAC has provided strategic direction and guidance on the project’s design, implementation, and evaluation.
