The Community Action Initiative supports community-based projects with a specific focus on addressing mental health and substance use challenges in BC. We also provide funding to help service providers enhance their capacity to serve individuals and families experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges.
Our funding areas are inclusive of activities across the mental health and substance use response continuum, and we aim to achieve a balanced representation across demographic groups and geographic areas in the province. At least 25% of our grant resources are dedicated to projects led by Aboriginal-mandated organizations.
- Convening grants provide up to $10,000 for organizations to come together with other community partners to plan and develop an innovative project that addresses mental health and/or substance use, and prepare a grant proposal for a Service Innovation Grant. Learn more about our Convening Grants.
Service Innovation Grants
- Service Innovation grants provide up to $200,000 for convening grant recipients to implement an innovative project idea that addresses a priority area for mental health and/or substance use. Learn more about our Service Innovation Grants.
Training & Capacity Building
- We support training initiatives that enhance the capacity of community organizations to deliver effective, evidence-informed services to individuals and families experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges.
