What This Grantee Is Doing for Community Counselling
Archway Community Services is using CAI COVID-19 Surge Funding to expand their counselling program virtually by building their capacity to offer clinical supervision support to their intern counselors. Currently, their program offers short-term (10 sessions) of free counselling in English, Arabic, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. Their intern counselling program also works in tandem with their Stop the Violence group to offer a virtual group for clients who have experienced domestic violence.
Counselling at Archway Community Services centers on grounding, stabilization, short goals, anger management and general mental health supports. Many internal referrals are from Archway's Abby Dads program, which recognizes the various barriers that make it difficult for men to access counselling and other mental health supports.
Archway Community Services is a non-profit, multi-service, multi-funded community based social service agency. They provide 90+ services to the community, such as providing legal education to migrant workers, running a day care, facilitating a foster parent support group and providing educational opportunities at their urban farm.
